Welcome to the Community Basketball Initiative
What is the CBI?
We´re a community group (created in April 2014) to develop basketball playing, coaching and officiating opportunities. We work especially in recognised ares of deprivation where there is a clear demand but no offer. We work in partnership with dozens of local groups to maximise the results.
Our Initiatives:
1 Sport England funded projects.
The CBI has worked with 12 highly qualified and dedicated coaches as well as 30+ volunteers over the last 5 years, we deliver basketball development projects exclusively for the benefit of the community. Our committee meets regularly to ensure we fit the criteria, to make a difference to our communities through Sport England funded projects. We have up to date constitution documents, a community account, equity as well as safeguarding policies. All our coaches are qualified, have enhanced DBS checks , 1st aid and safeguarding certificates.
2 Creation of sustainable clubs.
Our experience and partners allow us to develop high quality projects in specific communities. Our projects are designed to be sustainable and independent once the project ends. We work closely with clubs, schools and local communities to establish new clubs for the long term and we are proud of our projects.
3 Coaching and officiating development.
We work with basketballSUSSEX, Basketball England and universities to develop new coaches through official basketball coaching and officiating courses.
