COMMUNITY BASKETBALL INITIATIVE - CIC
Welcome to the Community Basketball Initiative
What is the CBI?
The CBI was created in April 2014 as a community group to develop basketball playing, coaching and officiating opportunities in Sussex. We work mainly in recognised ares of deprivation where there is a clear demand but clearly no basketball sessions on offer. We work in partnership with dozens of local groups to maximise the number of participants. In early 2020 we became a Community Interest Company.
Our Initiatives:
1 Funded community projects.
Our funding partners help us develop high quality projects where participants learn, enjoy and benefit for life. At the CBI, players and coaches are supported to develop their skills further, become better players, better coaches and better professionals.
2 Creation of sustainable clubs.
We work with highly experienced and qualified coaches to create new basketball clubs. Our projects have long term objectives and involve reaching out to the community, developing new players, coaches, leaders, volunteers and job opportunities empower the longevity of our projects.
3 Work and placement opportunities.
We work with dozens of partners including Local Councils, National Governing Bodies, Universities etc. Our unique area of experience means we can offer amazing placement opportunities for young people and students, including paid coaching jobs.
If you are interested in a coaching career through basketball in Sussex, do not hesitate to contact us:
