WORLD CLUB BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

 

The CBI is proud to work closely with the WCBT by offering free promotion, coaching and refereeing to help the community.

 

Bexhill Giants Basketball Club, are pleased to announce they will be hosting the inaugural World Club Basketball Tournament this summer, which is to be played at the Summerfields Leisure Centre Hastings, East Sussex, over the 12th & 13th September 2015.

 

The Basketball England endorsed tournament which is open to male over 18 teams from around the world, with the objective to provide teams of all levels with the opportunity to compete against other players representing their countries, and promote a great festival of basketball for the local community.

 

The host club Bexhill Giants have been instrumental in organising a number of international tournaments for visiting overseas teams over the last 3 years, which has seen American teams USA Select Basketball, Lake Michigan Admirals and Canadian side Toronto Knights visit the town.

 

As a result of the success and worldwide exposure of these events the Bexhill Giants founder Eric Douglin, was contacted by several teams asking to take part in any future events the Club held. This increased interest led to the Club taking the decision to host one major tournament to enable the teams to compete as in on world basketball extravaganza.

 

The tournament will see teams from countries including USA, Canada, France, Turkey, Spain, Tunisia , Venezuela and England competing to be crowned World Club Tournament Champions, along with a free youth coaching clinic , cheerleaders , prizes and giveaways.        

 

Douglin said “We have been overwhelmed by the interest which the tournament has generated across the basketball world. We have been contacted by several teams including the team, USAF Lakenheath Eagles, Thunder Swords of Ireland, Druids Basketball of Venezuela and Club Sportif Hammem of Tunisia who have in entering their teams. This will be a great opportunity to promote and showcase English basketball on the worldwide stage and we intend to make it a great event for the community”
