About the Event

This is a free, after school session for young people aged 11-16 from the Seahaven area. The session is designed to offer multi sports activities for young people with additional needs. Based at Newhaven Fort Road Recreation grounds, our highly experienced coaches and youth workers will offer a unique opportunity to positively impact young peoples life.

Additional needs includes:

1- Special needs: Special educational needs and/or disability (SEND) is the term given when a child has a learning difficulty or disability that makes it significantly more difficult to learn comparied to the majority of children of the same age.

2 - Young people Not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) as the needs from young people in this category are also additional to the majority of children of the same age.

We aim to provide a positive experience and hope to engage young people in a physically active lifestyle. The coach for this session is highly qualified and experienced and will be suported by a qualified Youth Worker. Activities will be adjusted to the needs and abilities of participants. All participants are required to register in advance. Registrations must be made by an adult responsible for the participant and must include a valid phone number. We will add the contact number to a Whatssap group and keep you updated with news relevant to the project. The first block of sessions for this project will run outdoors at Newhaven Fort recreation ground and will be weather-dependent.

We will deliver this project over 32 weeks across 2022 and 2023 starting on July 6th 2022 and hope to make a lasting positive impact in the lives of our participants.

This project also offers a unique exit route opportunity for those young people able to show the right level of interest and ability to keep up with our code of conduct. This opportunity is branded the "HERO" programme and it offers the chance for a young participant, a friend or even a family member to take on sports leadership related qualifications, gain valuable work experience through voluntary work at our club and sponsor a participant's fees at our official local "Force basketball club". By participating at our club, young people will learn useful skills, make new friends and become a valued member of our community. If you want to help a young individual through the "HERO" programme, contact us on 07931237169.
